BRAND OBSESSION: The Six Bells and their new Countryside Inn
Share
Remember cool girl wunderkind Audrey Gelman who went from political staffer to co-founder of the millennial pink professional cool girl hangout workspace, The Wing? Well she must’ve undergone one of those former boss babe life makeovers that involves reclaiming our time, getting closer to cozy, and birthing a new brand that hits all the points for all of us babes who love the following:
Country cottage aesthetic
Probably read Anne of Green Gables and/or had a hero American Girl ride or die
Lives for a roadside antique mall/flea market, settles for a thrift store on a Thursday
Either ACTUALLY shucked beans and made quilt squares with her Maw Maw or wished she had
Has a closet filled with ditsy florals, antique inspired Doen-like frills, French Indian block prints and a healthy drawer of aprons
Always carries the following in her bag: a novel, a cute tote bag (for aforementioned road side treasure hunting), a bag of tea (just in case) and a 1940s cotton bandana with a cute print of lambs leaping across a country fence
Who is this woman you describe? Me. It’s me.
Okay, so Audrey Gelman opened this shop called The Six Bells in NYC, which is basically like walking down the gritty NYC streets and suddenly falling down a rabbit hole of cottage cozy. I’m talking cute (the CUTEST) tote bags, Grandma Moses ceramics and pillows, baskets, splatterware, etc. (Here are my favorite things in store right BTW).
Welllll…. they’ve opened a country inn in upstate New York’s, Hudson Valley. Described as “a storybook you can sleep in,” each of the 11 rooms is entirely unique, inspired by old English and American aesthetics— but with a young and cool spin on it. There’s a whole mythology and visual language they’ve built around a fictional town inside the actual historic old town of Rosendale, NY. There’s even a cast of characters!
Dear Lort, deliver me unto this magical little town of make believe, brought to life in an upstate country inn.
Okay, so here’s some fun details I’m gathering from what I see online:
-Each room has hand-painted elements and tells the story of a particular character from The Six Bells universe.
-Designer Adam Greco went ALL OUT on wild layered textures and patterns and colors and antiques and art and created a gem that really brings to life the fictional town of Barrow’s Green.
-Each room has a shopping catalogue so you can bring home the nostalgia and keepsakes.
-All the branded collateral is cute AF, notepads, matchbooks, the morning newspaper in the breakfast room with the cutest crystal jelly jars of homemade jams.
-Bread is served on quilt squares in the dining room
