Bemelmans Framed

This painting began as a series of sketches as I sat inside the legendary Bemelmans bar inside NYC’s Carlyle Hotel, eating oysters and listening to Earl Rose on the piano. 

Ludwig Bemelmans is perhaps most famous for the children’s book we all know and love, Madeline. Her character makes an appearance on the hand painted murals inside Bemelmans! I highly recommend you look into Bemelmans’ legendary life, and definitely stop and get some oysters herein whenever you find yourself in NYC.

This is a framed archival pigment print of an original work by Morgan Jones Johnston.

With a classic frame profile, 1.4" wide molding, real tempered glass and a beveled mat surrounding your print and ready to hang on the wall.
