“Flora” has sat in my studio, hidden away all year. I needed to live with her. She’s big. 36x48”. Mixed media on canvas. I painted her while studying Boticelli, though you wouldn’t know that if I hadn’t mentioned it. Flora was once Chloris. Boticelli painted her being taken away by Zephyrus, the wind. She had this vine that crept out of her nose. She’s FIERCE. She’s birth and death and endless cycles and effortless work. And grief. And beauty. And all the things. She is all the things. All of us are all the things.
