You Can Always Have Flowers on the Table 2023

I love painting flowers. When I was five, I began taking art classes in the little country town I grew up in. I was a five year old in a class with teenagers, and we drew still life’s of flowers in vases. My mother framed and hung my flower drawing that won first place in the county fair. It hung in her home until the day she could no longer live in her home.

My mother always said that no matter how tough life may be, you can always have flowers on the table. She always had fresh cut flowers on the table in the kitchen. And I always have fresh cut flowers on the table, too.

It’s been a year since I’ve painted flowers on the table. I think it was too hard while I went through the journey of my mother’s Alzheimers descent.

And then suddenly here I am. “You Can Always Have Flowers on the Table.” This one is different. The colors pulse and gestures swirl. It has movement and life. I feel free again.
